The Half of It (2020): Shy, nerdy Ellie agrees to write a love letter for a jock, but enters an unexpected love triangle as she falls for his crush. Rated PG-13

The Way He Looks (2014): The life of Leonardo, a blind teenager, is changed forever when Gabriel comes into his life. Not Rated

The Mitchells vs. The Machines (2021): As Katie Mitchell prepares to leave for film school, her parents announce that the family will take a roadtrip to her orientation. Their trip is interrupted by a robot uprising, and the Mitchells must work through their tenuous relationship and save the world. Rated PG

Nimona (2023): A knight is framed for a traitorous crime and might only be saved with the help of a shapeshifting teen. Rated PG

Strange World (2022): The son of a famous adventurer must reunite with his estranged father and, along with his own family, explore an uncharted world to save his town. Rated PG

The Birdcage (1996): A gay club owner and his partner must attempt to hide their relationship from the conservative parents of their son's fiancé. Rated R

Maurice (1987): Maurice Hall falls for a wealthy classmate, Clive, but the relationship collapses under the pressure of heteronormative society. Maurice may have another chance at love, however, as he meets the groundskeeper, Alec Scudder. Rated R

The Handmaiden (2016): A woman is hired by a Korean con man to act as her handmaid while attempting to steal her inheritance. Not Rated 

Summerland (2020): After being volunteered to care for a young boy fleeing the WWII bombing of London, reclusive writer, Alice relives her former relationship as her bond with the young boy grows.  Rated PG

On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong (2019): Written as a letter from a son to a mother who can't read, these poems allow the mother to reach a revelation she could never have imagined.

Don't Call Us Dead by Danez Smith (2017): Examining the violence experienced by Black men at the hands of the police as well as HIV infection, this poetry collection challenges and critiques white America.

Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo (2021): In 1954 America, a Chinese-American high school student finds herself discovering feelings for a fellow classmate, Kath, as the pair grow entangled with a lesbian bar called the Telegraph Club.

A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall (2022): When Lady Viola is thought to be dead, she takes the opportunity live as her authentic self, at the cost of her wealth, title, and closest friend and duke, Justin. The pair reconnect years later and have the chance to explore their feelings for one another.

Alice Isn't Dead by Joseph Fink (2018): Truck driver, Keisha, goes on a cross-country search for her missing wife but uncovers a conspiracy that goes far beyond one missing woman.

Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant (2017): A menagerie of scientists and hunters travel to the Mariana Trench to investigate the loss of a mockumentary crew years earlier at the hands of mysterious creatures.

Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White (2022): Young trans man, Benji, has just escaped the fundamentalist Christian cult that raised him and unleashed a virus that decimated the world population. Though he finds refuge with the teens of the local LGBT+ center, there is more to his new companions than meets the eye.

Lesbian Nuns: Breaking Silence by Nancy Manahan and Rosemary Keefe Curb (1985): A collection of testimonies from lesbian nuns as they entered (and at times left) life in the convent.

Ace: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex by Angela Chen (2020): An exploration of what it means to be asexual in a society obsessed with romance and sex, and what we can learn by looking at our world from an asexual perspective.

Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah (2023): Two women fight as gladiators for their freedom in a private prison.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers (2014): Rosemary has fled her home and family in the wake of a scandal involving her father to join a motley worm-hole-boring ship crew. As she learns the ropes of interspace travel she also finds herself becoming part of a chosen family.

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin (1969): A single human diplomat is sent to the planet, Winter, to learn about the culture of its inhabitants who spend most of their lives without a gender while convincing its leaders to join an intergalactic alliance.

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir (2019): Gideon, a warrior raised by nuns, is recruited by her childhood nemesis and necromancer, Harrowhark, to aid her in a test of wits to become immortal.

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon (2019): 3 women of varying social class and circumstances must navigate the political landscape of a high fantasy world, attempting to avoid total chaos between the world's nations.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (2011): A retelling of the classic myth, Patroclus, an exiled prince, crosses paths with Achilles, the strong and beautiful son of the sea nymph, Thetis. The two boys grow closer as they train for war, but fate has more in store for the pair than they could ever expect.

GRAPHIC NOVELS

Snapdragon by Kat Leyh (2020): Young, spunky Snapdragon doesn't believe in witches until she meets her town's resident witch, Jacks. Luckily, Jacks just collects roadkill and wears weird shirts. As the two grow closer, though, it becomes clear Snapdragon may have more of a connection to Jacks than she may have first thought.

Check, Please! by Ngozi Ukazu (2018): Eric Bittle, former junior figure skating champion, joins the Samwell University hockey team. Through his hockey journey, he grows closer to his teammates, learns more about himself, and may even find a special connection with a certain moody team captain. 

Heartstopper by Alice Oseman (2018): Anxious, openly gay Charlie never expected to cross paths with rugby star, Nick Nelson. As the two are assigned as seating partners, they become fast friends, and perhaps something more.
