Mission Statement
Shelby Pride is a nonprofit founded in 2016 for queer folks and their allies.

Mission Statement: The Shelby Pride Chapter of Shelby, NC, fosters a spirit of community, inclusivity, and safety for its members throughout Cleveland County and neighboring areas. All are welcome - allies and members of the LGBTQIA+ community alike - to participate and join in our family-oriented chapter meetings and events. We center and educate community members on the rich and diverse history, needs, and makeup of the LGBTQIA+ community.

MEET OUR LEADERSHIP
Hi, I'm Melissa (she/her) and I'm so thrilled to be President of Shelby Pride. I've lived here in Cleveland County my entire 37 years of life, and love seeing the progress happening here. I love even more being a part of that progress! I have 1 wildling child that tags along with me a lot of places. We have 2 crazy dogs and a silly cat at home as well. If there's ever anything you need, don't hesitate to reach out!
Melissa McCleave, President
Howdy! I'm Dylan (he/him). I love being part of Shelby Pride. We are all about creating space for the Queer community in this little corner of the world and I'm so happy to have a hand in making that happen. I'm a local, so I know a thing or two about livermush. I'm a dad to a wild little pup names Beanie and Lulu the cat. I have a deep love for growing things and learning how to become a better steward of the world around us.

Hey, y'all! It's so wonderful to be here! I am a lesbian woman (she/her) and I have six amazing children, and a cat named Puppy. All things baking, Philadelphia sports (especially baseball), working out, and spontaneous road trips get me. It has been a joy meeting so many of you and I am looking forward to working together with y'all!
Holly Rupe, Treasurer
Hey!!! I'm Caleb (he/him, they/them) microbiologist by day, even bigger nerd by night. My amazing husband and I moved here a couple years ago with our fur baby pack. I enjoy reading, art, hiking, herbalism, and anything new, and I would be absolutely remiss if I didn't mention my love for food! Shelby Pride has given me a sense of community that I didn't know existed. All of the members are compassionate, phenomenal people dedicated to educating others and providing a space filled with love and acceptance
Caleb Surrat, Social Event Coordinator
Hiya! I'm a cis/bi woman (she/her), and this is my second year with Shelby Pride. I love it here!
A few things about me: I enjoy horror movies, witchy things, food, and painting (badly). I teach English for a living, and sometimes I ride my bike. Trying to do more hiking with my two dogs, Zola and Bear! Happy to be here!
